Daughter of former Iran’s president calls on West not delist IRGC

WorldDaughter of former Iran's president calls on West not delist IRGC

Tehran (Times Of Ocean)- Former Iran’s lawmaker Faezeh Hashemi Rafsanjani has called on western countries not to remove Iran’s elite Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) from the terror list.

“IRGC should remain on the U.S.’s terrorist list,” says Faezeh Rafsanjani, daughter of former Iranian president Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani.

In an appearance on the social audio app Clubhouse, the so-called reformist Faezeh Hashemi said that removing the IRGC from the Foreign Terrorist Organizations (FTO) list is not in Iran’s national interest.

In March, negotiations to restore Iran’s nuclear deal came to a halt as Tehran demanded the IRGC be removed from the terrorist list.

The IRGC fires missiles and declares that it was our job, Faezeh underlined.

“The only way for the IRGC to return to the barracks is to keep them on the sanctions list,” she said.

The former lawmaker Faezeh, whose father was Tehran’s second most powerful man for decades, called “IRGC’s actions detrimental for the country.”

Iran’s society suffers negative consequences from the IRGC, which must be stopped at some point, she said.

Faezeh’s father helped bring Ali Khamenei to power in 1989, who made the IRGC a major economic player within the country.

In 2019, then-US President Donald Trump designated Iran’s elite Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) as a foreign terrorist organisation (FTO).

It was the first time the White House labelled another nation’s military as a terrorist organisation.

The U.S. had already sanctioned several IRGC entities and affiliated entities for alleged proliferation activities, support for terrorism, and human rights violations at the time.

On April 10, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) released a video threatening Turkey and Azerbaijan with missiles earlier this month.

Iranian Revolutionary Guards released a video showing missiles being fired to warn Turkey and Azerbaijan. The IRGC warned of a plot to encroach on Iranian and Armenian borders, noting that the guards would deal with all power.

As the video begins with footage of a lion attacking a herd of hyenas, Iranian leader Ali Khamenei remarks about respect for international borders.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran strongly opposes any move designed to change international borders.”

It was the second warning the IRGC has issued in three weeks. Now, Turkey and Azerbaijan are being warned that military retaliation may take place in the event of a threat to the borders of Armenia.

Previously, Iran’s IRGC warned Azerbaijan, the UAE, Iraqi Kurdistan Region, and Israel about “harboring Zionist elements”.
