Paris (Times Of Ocean)- France is relocating its embassy to Ukraine’s capital city Kyiv despite the ongoing Russian war, the Foreign Ministry announced Thursday.

In a statement issued by the ministry, Jean-Yves Le Drian said France would deepen its support for Ukraine in all fields as it faces the war by moving its diplomatic mission from Lviv to Kyiv “very soon.”

A statement from Kuleba also said it was good for “France’s representation in Ukraine to be relocated back to Kiev, which has been on Ukrainian soil since the beginning of the war.”

Vitali Klitschko, the mayor of Kyiv, said the return of the envoy and the embassy was a “sign of things returning to normal.” Although life is not yet back to normal, the situation is calmer now.

As a result of the outbreak of the war on Feb. 24, the embassy and its staff were evacuated from the capital. Throughout the war, Paris has maintained a diplomatic presence and provided military, economic, and humanitarian assistance to Kyiv.

The government is currently assisting Ukrainian authorities in investigating and collecting evidence of war crimes committed by Russian forces in order to bring the case under international jurisdiction.
